Permaculture came from the words" permanent" and "agriculture", with the former referring to what call today as "sustainable". Over the years, the scope of permaculture has encompassed projects beyond farms, so the word eventually evolved to mean "permanent" and "culture". In practice, permaculture is a desing philosophy that is not just for sustainability but also for regeneration (Rhoded, 2015). Regeneration refers to a gradual process of "healing" the landscapes and the environment from the negative impacts of conventional agriculture. In today's sustainable development jargon, permaculture is closely associated with regenerative, organic, and sustainable agriculture concepts.
